Brock Stars At Winton
Having
his first competitive drive in newly acquired Birrana Formula 2 car Peter
Brock took four wins from four starts at the Benalla Car Club meeting
at Winton last Sunday.
The car is
a works Birrana as raced by Malcolm Ramsay and Leo Geoghegan and Brock
adapted himself well to win three scratch races and one handicap on the
day.
Brock started
from pole position in each of the races after getting to within one second
of Tony Stewart’s outright lap record during practice. His race
lap times dropped from 1:05.1 to 1:03.7 during the day and though Brock’s
main opposition on the day was confined to the cars of Brian Sampson,
Brian Shead and Doug Hicks the performance of the Birrana driver auger
well for his future in the F2 ranks.
