WINNERS, I say. Holden finally had their own “One-Two two
formation finish and extinguished the nightmare memories of that
Ford finish in 77. The Holden promotional boys (and Rory)
stirred up things around the country with their Aussie V8 Power
signage. In 1984, it was war! Not only from the old
enemy Ford, but from determined Jap crap teams from
Mazda (that bugger Moffat again) and Datsun. |
In
the last two races of the “Big Bangers” (Sandown and Bathurst),
the combination of Aussie V8’s and Brock hosed off opposition from
Dick and his deforestation efforts, Moff’s rice burners and Gibbo’s
hairdryers. It was also the year of the Dick (Johnson winning
the ATCC) and six different winners from seven races.
Little did we know that promise of so much
with the introduction of European Group A, would eventually turn
into the middle ages of Australian Tin Top racing! |
